Best Dog Costumes and Happy Halloween with Dog O'Lanterns
58Happy Halloween my fellow Hubbers! I received in this email with photos I just had to share. It is sure to put a smile on your face just in time for a fun and frivolous holiday - Halloween. I view Halloween simply as a holiday. A day of temptations for goodies and sweets, a day of fun with make believe.
Life has its moments of reflection and deeper meaning. Halloween is not the appropriate holiday for that. Halloween should be Jack O'Lanterns or in this case, "Dog O'Lanterns". It should be sweets and chocolates and fun door to door. It should be visiting with neighbors and celebrating the smiles of children.
With the lantern matching the dogs, I recalled all the speculation about people matching their dogs. There is a GREAT article about people matching their dogs.

Dogs with Jack O'Lanterns
Mr. Jack-o-lantern by Alene Dalton, Myriel Cluff Ashton and Erla Young
Mr. Jack-o-lanternMr. Jack-o-lantern
Is very round and fat.
He has a yellow candle
Tucked underneath his hat.
It makes his face look scary (cheery)
And very, very bright
When he winks and smiles at me
On spooky Halloween night!

Jack O'Lantern Poem
"Jack is his name and he’s not very tall
You might find him lit up in a doorway or hall
Sometimes he is smiling…with a big toothy grin
Other times he is terrifying…a face wrought with sin
On Halloween evening you see him the most
All lit up inside…shining like a lamp post
He greets Trick-or-Treaters by each house’s door
And beckons them forward from his place on the floor
He’s just a big pumpkin carved up with a knife
But a flickering candle seems to bring him to life
Casting eerie dark shadows that dance from his eyes
Until daylight arrives and he becomes pumpkin pies."

Poetry: Jack-o'-lantern
by Geoffrey Schmitt
A friendly face or fright’ning frown
A wicked wink or laughing clown
A candle light shines inside out
So you will know without a doubt
That Halloween is nearly here
When little folks tremble with fear
for ghosts and goblins walk the streets
with bags to fill with yummy treats
they guess that if now Jack is lit
on porches or in windows sit
that candy must be near at hand
when up they run to ring and stand
Oh Jack shine out for us tonight
fill up our bags with cho’late bites
then send us on to find some more
where Jack-o-lantern shines next door

Smiles bring joy. Anytime we can enjoy life, we need to take a moment to rejoice in our soul. A dog's love is always unconditional. It is complete satisfaction with everything the owner does. A dog is very wise and teaches us about life - if we look closely. Learn today from those around - all around you - notice the love of an animal to its owner and you will see a small glimpse of heaven. Our heavenly father loves each and every one of us - unconditionally. Our job is to feel his love and to share his love and to share his message of love.
The ultimate lesson all of us have to learn is unconditional love, which includes not only others but ourselves as well. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

These are fabulous! Thank you for the smile :-D I have three wolfhounds........... maybe that's where my unmanageable hair has come from........... ya think? Thank for this; I loved it! ~ Kaie
Gma- Yeah, I have three. The first came after my children and I moved out of our house during my divorce......... my son said "can we?' I said, "yes." Always a great time and excuse to do something you've always wanted to. The second, she was a gift from my dad.......... she's a brat, but she's REALLY sweet; the third, she is one of the pups from their first litter. She broke her leg when she was around 9 weeks old and became a keeper. Crazy? Yep, but I do love them, all 440 pounds of them!
Do they shed? Yes, but they have hair not fur, no dander.
Have a great Halloween! Kaie
So adorable rated you up! Everyone should have!

Cool photos. This year I made my jack-o-lantern look like a cat. I love it! Happy Halloween!

Wonderful images. And I hope I do not look like my dog. Dick is a 250 pound mastiff with long pendulous lips and a wrinkled drooping face -- uh, wait a minute....
